It's one of those games the Calgary Flames will wish they had won by the end of the season. The Flames went into Dallas Friday night, hoping to pick up some ground on the Stars in the Western Conference. But by the end of the night, they would be trailing the Stars by five points.
Marty Turco got off to a shaky start for Dallas, letting in a goal early on in the game, but after that first goal got in, the door was closed for the rest of the night. Turco leading Dallas to a 5-1 victory over the Flames, and pulling them to within four points of Division leading San Jose. The Stars have an all important match up with the Sharks on Sunday evening.
Head Coach Darryl Sutter, was disappointed in the play of his team, advising them that it's hard to beat a quality team like Dallas, when you fall behind by two or three goals. A lack of scoring costing the Flames a chance to put some room between them and eighth place in the West and a playoff spot. Calgary presently is one point ahead of Los Angeles and trailing sixth place Nashville by two. Calgary next plays on Sunday night when they head into Colorado, Edmonton and Ottawa then fly into Calgary for two more key games for the Flames. By the end of next week, they'll have a good idea if they'll be able to keep in the race for the playoffs. Expect Sutter to have them playing better hockey the next seven days than what they showed Friday in Dallas.
