Chara Charges em up

Zdeno Chara returned to the Ottawa Senator line up on Tuesday night, and not a moment to soon as the Sens broke what for them had become a long lasting losing streak.

Chara's goal in overtime gave the Sens a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins and returned the Sens to the win column for the first time in five starts. Chara who hurt his hand in a fight in had missed ten games and could only watch as his team mates battled successive injuries and struggled to win but three games while the big Z was on the sidelines.

The win gave Ottawa a one point lead over the Carolina Hurricanes in the chase for first place overall in the Eastern division, both Ottawa and Carolina have three games remaining in the regular season.

In addition to Chara's return, the Sens welcomed back defenceman Wade Redden who returned to the team after spending time with his ailing mother in Alberta. With the two big pins back on defence only Chris Phillips, Martin Havlat and Domenik Hasek remain as the major names on the injury list.

With the playoffs a week away, the Sens are slowly getting the roster filled out again, something that they will need to have in place for a lengthy run for the Stanley Cup.
