Luongo a no go for Atlanta

He may be the most popular choice for the Western Division all star team, but family, as it should, comes first for Roberto Luongo.

The Vancouver Canuck goaltender, voted by the fans to the starting line up of the all star game, announced today that due to family concerns, he will be taking a pass on the Atlanta all star game.

Luongo's wife Gina is in Florida awaiting the April birth of their child and is having what Luongo calls a "delicate pregnancy", so he is taking advantage of the break in the schedule (January 25--29) to spend some time with her, the Luongo's have been separated for most of the season when she returned to Florida in the fall in order to be closer to her family and doctors.

He has the full support of the Canucks with his plans, in fact they have also allowed him to take the first game after the all star break off, as it is back in Vancouver, he will catch up with his team mates on the 31st when the Canuck's play the Lightning at Tampa Bay.
