Pat Quinn's teaching tool video for the agony of defeat

“Those things happen in sports, but I certainly don’t like that we lost. We have to learn not to beat ourselves. I didn’t like any one of the goals.” -- Oilers head coach Pat Quinn, expressing his disappointment in the end result and the path that took his team there on Saturday night..

No doubt there will be a special bit of tutoring on the skill of puck handling (or lack of) by goaltenders when the Oilers hold practice for the next little while.

Saturday night's contest with the Flames ended on the most embarrassing of notes as Oilers goaltender, the usually reliable Nikolai Khabibulin fumbled the puck in his own end, losing control of it as Calgary Flame David Moss sweeps in and swipes it into the gaping hole of an Edmonton net. A Rexall Centre silencing moment, that removed the need for an overtime session by providing the Flames with a 4-3 victory.
.
.
Khabibulin, the much heralded off season acquisition certainly gets off to a rough start for the hometown crowd with his faux pas and will no doubt be the highlight reel icon for most of this season.
.
More importantly for him than the thoughts of the Oilers crowd and the media video archivists however, may be the thoughts of head coach Pat Quinn who showcased one of those looks of bewilderment that perhaps he thought he had left these kind of mental mistakes behind back in his days in Toronto....
